On the 8th of February 2010, the General assembly of the European Federation of Osteopaths (EFO) was held at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels.
Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Germany, Cyprus, Italy, Holland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, England, Poland, Switzerland (absent but excused), Ireland and Sweden were present as members, Canada as correspondent.
Report from the board of the EFO was adopted unanimously.
The progress of the EFO/CEPLIS card, introduction of the a semantic commission, was presented and adopted.
Mr. Reignault, (Vice-president of CEPLIS and Member of EESC) notably highlights its importance regarding the European decision making process. At the same time Mr. Reignault gives an insight on the main issues discussed at the European level and of relevance for the liberal professions such as the Services Directive, the Directive on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications, the Small Business Act for Europe and the Green Paper on the European workforce for Health.
Dr. Koutroubas, Director General of CEPLIS underlines the specificities of this organization and its action at the Community level.
Each member/country had the chance to inform the rest of the panel in a round table, about there news.
By unanimously the candidature of Ireland and a deeper cooperation with the FORE (Forum for Osteopathic Regulation in Europe) with a possible merger, were adopted.
