WHO guidelines to be published

E-mail Print PDF

Armand Gersanois DO, President meeting with Dr. Zhang and Dr. Robinson in June 2009 at the WHO building in Geneva.

The WHO has announced that its guidelines on basic training and safety will be published and released in Milan and Rome on June 4th 2010. Whilst the WHO had announced and dropped publication on several occasions this is the first time specific details have been announced. We are confident it will happen this time. The EFO has been fully involved in this development work and both Armand Gersanois and Michael Watson attended the WHO meeting in Milan in February 2007 when the guidelines were developed. Commenting on the publication Armand Gersanois said ‘I am delighted that we will finally see the WHO guidelines published. It represents an important milestone for osteopathy and forms the basis for the future development of internationally recognised standards for osteopathy. It fully complements the work the EFO and FORE have been undertaking individually and jointly in Europe’.
