European Federation of Osteopaths

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, Mesdames et Messieurs,

This is my pleasure to greet you this afternoon in my new position as President of the EFO.
The Board has conferred on me this position after having been invited to present my candidacy by Armand Rousseau and Claude Gersanois. It is with honor that I have accepted.

For those who do not know me, my name is Jonathan Bailey-Teyletche.

I graduated as an osteopath from the British School of osteopathy in 1996.

I currently live and work in private practice in London

I have taught and examined at The British School of Osteopathy for the past 13 years and I have been involved as a council member with the BOA since 2006 and sit on both the professional and political sub-committees. I am currently involved with the BOA and the GOSC in the re-validation and scope of practice processes for osteopathy in the United Kingdom where in conjunction with key stake holders we are seeking to further raise and protect the profile of osteopathy.

In 2009, I was accepted by you the members of the EFO as a board member with the sole aim of unifying and promoting the osteopathic profession in Europe- only time will tell, whether working together, we call can be successful.

I have a feeling that this may take some time- Luckily, being young, time is something that I have in abundance!

Before I continue, I feel that I must thank Claude and Armand for the incredible work they have done for over ten years on the board of the EFO furthering and representing osteopathy not only in France and Belgium but also in many other countries in the world, not just Europe.

In 1998, EFO had only 300 members, now we have over 10,000 and we are beginig to make real in roads in promoting and recognising osteopathy in Europe. Over the past 10 years we have:

- We worked with CEPLIS and EESC
- We have contributed to the Scope of Practice document and consulted with WHO on their paper on osteopathy.
- Launched European Osteopathic ID card and launched the web based ID check
- Began to work with an FORE under the MOU agreement to advance osteopathy in Europe
- Again with FORE, looking to investigate  the opportunity offered to us with CEN.

It is with sadness, however that we say goodbye to Claude and Armand
Armand will remain on the board in a lay role, as Past President. This is very important not only for me personally but also that to continues to impart his considerable knowledge and experience to the board. He will also continue in his position of Treasurer at CEPLIS.

Claude will also remain available in a consultancy role for the EFO and will continue to work on projects he has already started on.

As osteopaths we need to be reminded of just how far osteopathy has come in terms of being accepted as a primary healthcare profession over the past 10 years.

Yet, there is still much work to be done, and with the board, we will be sending you out in the coming year a copy of the Boards 5 year strategic plan for consultation which will include:

- Re-developing the working frame-work of the board looking to make our work as transparent as possible and answerable to our membership.

-Working with FORE towards a possible merger

-Furthering our work with CEN to achieve a European standardisation of osteopathic education and standards.

-Developing and encouraging World-wide osteopathic co-operation and research

-Promoting osteopathy on a political, medical and public level and urging unity of European osteopaths to speak with one voice.

I thank you once more for having given me the opportunity to speak today and welcome back Armand to close the EFO AGM for another year.

Cet avec plaisir que je vous salue cet après-midi dans ma position de nouveau Président de la FEO.

Le Board ma confie cette position après avoir été invité de présenter ma candidature par Armand Gersanois et Claude Rousseau et c’est avec honneur que j’ai accepte.

Pour ceux qui ne me connaissent pas je m’appelle Jonathan Bailey-Teyletche.

J'ai obtenu un diplôme d'ostéopathe de la British School de l'ostéopathie en 1996.

Je vis et je travaille à Londres ou je suis le directeur de deux cabinets de rééducation privée

J'ai enseigné à la British School of Osteopathy pour les 13 dernières années et j'ai été impliqué en tant que membre du conseil de la BOA depuis 2006 et siègent à la fois professionnel et politique sous-comités. Je participe actuellement à la BOA et la GOSC dans la revalidation et la portée des processus de la pratique de l'ostéopathie au Royaume-Uni où, en collaboration avec les principales parties prenantes que nous cherchons à augmenter encore et de protéger le profil de l'ostéopathie.


En 2009, j'ai été accepté par vous, les membres de l'EFO comme membre du conseil dans le seul but d'unifier et de promotion de la profession d'ostéopathie dans le temps l'Europe ne nous le dira, si en travaillant ensemble, nous appelons peut être fructueuse.
J'ai le sentiment que cela peut prendre un certain temps, heureusement, étant jeune, le temps est quelque chose que j'ai en abondance!

Je ne peut pas continuer, par contre, sans remercier Armand et Claude pour le travaille incroyable qu’ils ont fait pendant plus de dix ans sur le board de la FEO pour avancer l’ostéopathie non seulement en France et Belgique, mais aussi dans beaucoup d’autre pays dans le monde, non seulement l’Europe.

En 1998, La FEO n’avais que 300 membres- maintenant nous sommes a plus de 10,000 et nous avons fais quand même pas mal de progrès en Europe.

-         Nous sommes rentres aux bureaux de CEPLIS et CESE

-         Nous avons contribuée au Scope of Practice et au document avec le WHO

-         Lancer la carte professionnelle et le lancement du ID Check

-         Commencer à travailler avec le FORE sous un agreement- MOU- pour faire progresser l’ostéopathie en Europe

-         Encore avec FORE la FEO explore les opportunités qui nous ont été présente pas le procès CEN.

Grace a cette riche et longue histoire c’est avec tristesse que nous devons dire au revoir a Armand et Claude- mais pas toute a fait.

Armand va rester a travailler pour la FEO en temps de Past Président. Ceci est très important, non seulement pour moi personnellement, mais aussi pour qu’ils continuent à influencer  le board avec son expérience et sa position au CEPLIS.

Claude aussi va rester disponible en temps de Consultant et continuera à travailler sur les projets qu’il a déjà commencer.

Comme ostéopathes nous avons besoin d'être rappelé à quel point l'ostéopathie est venu en termes d'être accepté comme une profession de santé primaire au cours des 10 dernières années.

Pourtant, il reste encore beaucoup de travail à faire, et avec le conseil, nous vous ferons parvenir dans l'année à venir une copie du plan de commissions de 5 ans stratégique de consultation qui comprendra:

- Redéveloppement du cadre de travail-travail de la commission cherche à faire notre travail aussi transparent que possible et de répondre à nos membres.

-Travailler avec Le FORE vers une éventuelle fusion

-Promotion de notre travail avec le CEN pour parvenir à une normalisation Européenne pour l'éducation ostéopathique et des normes.

-Développer et encourager l'échelle mondiale ostéopathique de coopération et de la recherche

-Promouvoir l'ostéopathie sur le plan politique, médecine et santé publique et exhortant l'unité des ostéopathes européens à parler d'une seule voix.
